Craniosacral & Myofascial Therapy

Craniosacral (CST), craniosacral fascial (CFT) & myofascial release (MFR) therapies are light touch techniques that enable the body to release tensions deep within to relieve pain and dysfunction. The craniosacral system involves the cerebral spinal fluid, spinal cord, and bones in the skull as well as the fascia (connective tissue) throughout the body.

The craniosacral and fascial systems play an integral part in how well the nervous system functions. The system can hold trauma from birth as well as physical and emotional impacts from throughout one's lifetime. To compensate, the membranes and liquid that surround the brain and spinal cord strain causing tension that can cause many sensory, motor, and neurological disorders. When tension is released, the whole body can achieve its greatest level of performance and health. This therapy is effective for everyone beginning at birth and throughout one's lifetime.

Janyne Vasel, RN

Janyne began her career with a business degree and worked in publishing and advertising in NYC. After some time she became aware of how unfulfilled she was and began searching for a path that gave her life greater meaning. Completing her nursing degree in 1999 she began a career as a pediatric nurse and after becoming a mother in 2003 when multiple physicians were not able to help her son’s health issues, she then turned to the holistic route and found a Craniosacral Therapist and an Integrative Physician who changed everything. They found the root cause of all of his health and developmental issues and treated him holistically. This not only helped her son in so many profound ways but also encouraged her to work on her own healing. This was ultimately an amazing journey for her as well. Feeling that Western medicine was not a good fit for her, she began to pursue a holistic way to utilize her love for helping others to achieve their optimal state of health. Being trained by the Upledger Institute (Dr. John Upledger) and The Gillespie Approach (Dr. Barry Gillespie), as well as by John Barnes myofascial release techniques, she has been able to learn how to tune in and work with the innate healing ability of the body. She has found her true passion for helping others holistically come to fruition. Her love for working with mothers and babies gives her great fulfillment as she herself didn’t discover Craniosacral therapy for her son until he was 6 years old. She also is passionate for helping those of any age in their healing journeys as there are challenges and opportunities for healing at all ages and stages of life. Janyne has also been trained in using essential oils for healing, muscle testing for allergies and sensitivities in the body, healing with supplements and foods, and Reiki. She also a Certified Integrative Health Practitioner, a member of The American Craniosacral Therapy Association, Holistic Nurses Association and The International Alliance of Healthcare Practitioners.

Kim Ellner, CST-Techniques, LMT, Member IAYT, ERYT

Kim was drawn to study Craniosacral Therapy (CST) after witnessing its effectiveness in clearing her son’s chronic ear infections, and in experiencing CST’s healing impact on her hip dysplasia, scoliosis and autoimmune symptoms. Kim’s holistic way of living aligned with CST’s light touch approach and how it works with the ody’s innate wisdom for self-correction. Kim studied CST with the Upledger Institute, beginning in 2016, working with adults, teens and animals. She recently certified at the Upledger CST- Techniques level. Kim’s joy in helping others naturally expanded to infants and young children. Kim completed her CST infant beginner and advanced clinical training at the Carol Gray Center for CST Studies. In March 2024, Kim volunteered in Israel, offering Craniosacral Therapy for stationed soldiers, and for babies, children and adults, displaced from the Gaza envelope. Kim’s initial holistic well-being work was yoga. Kim is a Member of the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) & Yoga Alliancesince 2003. She offered private clinical yoga sessions for those suffering from breast cancer, scoliosis, osteoporosis, traumatic brain injury, musculoskeletal issues, autoimmune conditions, trauma, anxiety, and surgery recovery. Kim volunteered as strategic advisor to Yoga Connections, a Jewish Federation organization, from 2013 -2019. As an advisor, she annually visited Israeli communities near Gaza to establish yoga and meditation programming for trauma treatment. Kim’s first career was as a CPA and Audit Manager at PricewaterhouseCoopers. She was known for thoroughness, pragmatism and forging strong relationships. Kim brings these qualities to her holistic healing work. Kim lives in Montclair. She enjoys hiking, audiobooks, and visiting her two adult children.
